IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT EDISON.
From the electric light and electrical distribution, to movies and recorded music, alkaline batteries to improved Portland Cement and over 1,000 American patents, Thomas A. Edison helped create the modern world.
The Edison Birthplace was opened to the public by his wife Mina and his daughter Madeleine as a tribute to the humble beginnings of a great man.
While it is a designated National Historic Landmark, the Edison Birthplace receives no state or federal funding.
100% of your donation goes directly to help maintain and support the Birthplace and its educational programs. Your generous support will make a difference. Thank you!

“…this museum should be more than just a memorial…
We especially want children to get the inspiration that a true picture of him should provide – a better sense of values and to assure them that such qualities as fortitude, industry and independence of thought are still worthwhile and should not vanish from the earth.”
~ Madeleine Edison Sloane, Thomas Edison’s daughter, speaking at the Edison Birthplace for the dedication ceremony as a National Historic Landmark, Sept. 16, 1965
